WAASRS is a grassroots, landowner-funded, non-profit society that was formed to support farmers, ranchers and landowners in and around Wheatland County, as they navigate negotiations with oil & gas operators. We are governed by a board nominated by members at large. We currently have 150+ members.

We are committed to supporting the interests of our members by providing a local forum for landowners to discuss lease issues, liaising with local and provincial levels of government and industry, as well as developing and providing access to resources aimed at assisting landowners with negotiations and dealings with energy operators. Our goal is to provide information that will help landowners be well prepared and therefore have an increased chance of success in their negotiations and hearings.

In early March 2024, WAASRS hosted our AGM, with Premier Smith, Minister McIver and several other MLA’s Wheatland County officials in attendance, as well as lawyers, land consultants, and many landowners from the area.
